FC Volendam has signed a new left-back: George Cox. Cox played for Fortuna Sittard for the past four years and comes to Volendam on a free transfer. The English left-back signs for two years.
What happened?
FC Volendam was looking for a new left-back after the departure of Derry John Murkin to Schalke 04. Cox made the move from the Brighton & Hove Albion academy to Fortuna Sittard in 2019 and quickly became an indispensable part of the team in Limburg.
Why is this important for FC Volendam?
Cox has a lot of experience in the Eredivisie and has played a total of 108 matches. He then trained with Hull City, but this did not result in a contract. Volendam is currently 14th in the Eredivisie with 28 points from 30 games and a recent form of LDLLL.
