FC Volendam seeks reinforcement in the transfer window

FC Volendam has made it clear they are looking for a new left‑center back and a left winger, while already showing interest in Yannick Leliendal, Nordin Bukala and Precious Ugwu. Technical director Patrick Busby explained that the club, currently 16th in the Eredivisie with 32 points (8W‑8D‑18L) and a recent 1‑2 loss to Willem II on 23‑05‑2026, wants to expand its roughly €2 million budget to bring in the desired players.

Who is on the transfer list?

The list includes goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen, who is about to leave, and young talents Leliendal, Bukala and Ugwu. Busby noted there is still room for players who fit their style, but the club must stay alert as some players may also depart. The current squad has scored 35 goals and conceded 55 this season, a –20 goal difference, highlighting the need for reinforcements.

How much budget is available?

Busby said there is €2 million available now, but hopes to raise it to €2.5 million. He referenced the championship season two years ago, when the club won with a €2.3 million budget. The present budget must therefore cover both sales income and any new signings, especially given the ambition to compete at the top end rather than chase the title directly, yet still aim for a safe league position.

What does this mean for the future?

The technical staff has a "shadow list" of several trainer candidates but chose the experienced Erwin van de Looi. Busby believes an experienced coach offers the best chance to stabilise the club. With the current form – the last five games ending 1W‑1D‑3L (LWLLD) – Volendam must act quickly to avoid relegation and fulfil the ambition to compete among the league’s upper tier.

When could new players arrive?

Busby stated there is no fixed deadline for trial players like Stefano Denswil, Erik Schouten and Jaïr Haakmat. They will have the next few weeks to prove themselves in three matches, after which the club will have a clearer picture. If player sales bring in good fees, there will be enough time left to scout and sign suitable replacements.
