FC Volendam sees opportunities for revamped team: 'Combination of old and young'
For FC Volendam, a lot has changed after the relegation from the Eredivisie. A new trainer and a batch of players came and went, and club icon Robert Mühren stopped and moved to assistant trainer. Captain Henk Veerman remained and starts fit in the new season, after he struggled with a knee injury earlier this year.

Veerman is not worried about the many changes in the team. "That's actually every year: a huge change in the selection is inherent to football. That won't be much different. A new trainer is getting used to, but it's good to have some new things again."
The Volendammer is 35 years old, the oldest player in the FC Volendam selection. However, he attaches little value to this. "We have proven two years ago that with an older selection with young players in between, it works perfectly. Let's hope that will happen again."
Roy Steur under the spotlight
Roy Steur is under the spotlight against Jong PSV at FC Volendam. "That also has to do with the fitness of Hidde Jurjus. We have two good goalkeepers who will hopefully push each other to high heights and at the moment, Roy gets the preference."
FC Volendam has a fit selection coming Monday in Eindhoven. That duel in the first division starts at 20.00 hours and can be followed via a live blog on our site and in the app.
