Two Ajax fans who attacked the Mobile Unit after the match against FC Groningen in Volendam have been sentenced to six weeks in prison, four of which are conditional. In addition to the prison sentences, the two men, 23 and 24 years old, from Harderwijk, each had to pay a compensation of 500 euros to the victims. According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, there was already a lot of unrest between the supporter groups during the match, where the Groningen supporters were 'constantly insulted' by a large part of the Ajax fans. After the match, Ajax fans tried to confront the Groningen fans and their bus. The ME had to intervene to separate the two groups. 'Many Ajax supporters misbehaved', writes the Public Prosecutor's Office. On camera footage, police reports and witness statements, it has been shown that heavy objects were thrown at the police. Among those objects were stones and bottles. The two suspects were initially charged with eight weeks in prison, half of which was conditional, but that ultimately turned out to be lower.
